Re: credit crunch wedding

Ive done a cple things to cut costs one is im making my own invites... and man im regretting it i only saved about 300pounds.... and in the grand scheme its not going to make that difference, i work so much its hard to find the time to actually do them lol! way too time consuming so will be glad when they are finished (they dont look too great either lol will post pics wen i have finished them) !

Also i will be buying BM dresses from america saving about 250 and i got my maggie sottero dion dress brand new from ebay for the bargain price of 204 pounds!!!! and its stunning!

Im doing our own invites too which as soon2bmrs has send it is very time consuming lol also I got my dress from a lady in the uk who has her own dress maker and theyre doing me a alfred angelo copy for £240 instead of the £700! so was really happy bout that!lol ive got bridesmaid dresses off ebay got a brand new one for my youngest bm that cost the grand total of £8.70 includin p+p. were have hired a bouncy castle for the childrens entertainment thats only costin us £50 for as long as we want it that day.for our honeymoon were thinkin of just going on the eurostar to paris for a couple of nite to as this will cost about £500 in total including spendin money erm....thryin to think what else lol .... havin our cake as our desert so thats saved us a bit too and makin our own centre pieces ther only gonna cost about £5 per table. doing our own balloons off ebay to. ebays a god send!lol sorry for the long post lol i better stop now cos i cud just go on and on and on.....lol

Re: credit crunch wedding

hi im sure ive probably allready posted something on here about my bargains but once more with feeling ...
making my own invites, ive actually really enjoyed that bit apart from the wording
my dress £85 on ebay and really unusual - i love it!
bridesmaids dresses £13.50 each in jane norman sale not "proper" bmaids dresses but they fit with the colourscheme and pricetag!
my venue is actually i think a bit of a bargain its costing us 2grand all in thats room for ceremony, decorations, flowers, welcome drinks, buffet for 60 sit down, cash bar and 7 bedrooms for the night.
still working on making the favours and namecards and got to find cheap suits for groomsmen and flowergirls dresses.
planning on doing own flowers as well ...
think thats it!!

Re: credit crunch wedding

Hi All

Mum is making my wedding drress, she is a really good dress maker, my material cost £18 - it was in a sale £2 a metre from £20 so it is gorgeous, I am copying a vintage Dior dress that Scarlett Johansen (spelt wrong I am sure) wore to a premiere. She is also making my bridesmaids too - she is a wee pet x oh £150 for material for 5 bridemaids!!

Making my own invites, my step mum doing all the flowers, not that I want many, dad organising his old band mates for a proper Irish session, cake from Marks and Spencer - £37 for two tiers, which I will decorate with flowers or something. So far I have managed to keep my wedding a small, informal affair - but everyone wants to add arms and legs to it - things that I dont want.

The venue is an old coaching inn - the owner wasa bit miffed that i didnt want any top table, speeches, or fuss etc, I just want a proper party and to be married

Lindsay

Re: credit crunch wedding

My shoes were 3quid from e-bay and they are gorgeous! My cousin is a DJ so doing the music for me all day (good old fashioned knees up at the Village Hall!). My photographer is a guy i went to school with setting up his own business and using us as an example. I made wine charms for favours, cost me about a tenner from e-bay. I also found a fantastic seller on there who make personalised choccies. Twenty three quid for 100 and they look and taste lovely. And the rings were 107quid from Argos but we had seventy pounds worth of vouchers so only cost us thirty seven!!! I have loved it!!!! Jacqui
